Yard Dog is pleased to present a group exhibition entitled Here Be Monsters, featuring the work of artists Jon LangfordReg Mombassa & Peter O’Doherty, from March 1 through April 20.
Australian artists Reg Mombassa & Peter O’Doherty are renowned artists and musicians. In the US they are best known for their work in the band Mental As Anything in the 1970’s & 80’s and their band Dog Trumpet from 1981 to present. Reg is well known for his idiosyncratic work for Mambo Graphics and as a fine artist. He has just completed his creative ambassadorship (Mombassador) for Sydney 2013 NYE celebrations and his art is on buses and all over the streets of Sydney’s CBD. Peter is also a successful and much sought after painter. For over three decades the brothers have exhibited in Australia, New Zealand, Europe and Asia. This will be the first showing of their work in the US.
Jon Langford, a Welsh artist and musician living in Chicago, is an accomplished artist and musician, known for his work with British proto-punk band the Mekons, Chicago alt-country outfit the Waco Brothers, and for his solo work. His latest solo album is also titled Here Be Monsters, and Jon has created a print representing each of the 11 songs on the album. The prints will be sold in a limited edition box set.
Yard Dog’s annual day party on Saturday, March 15, will serve as a kind of all-day art opening. Dog Trumpet will perform at 2:00pm and Jon Langford & Skull Orchard will play at 5:00pm. Then at 6:00pm all three artists will be on hand for a reception inside Yard Dog. In addition, both Langford & Dog Trumpet will perform acoustically.
