Leroy Almon

Leroy Almon (1938-1997) was a bas-relief carver from Tallapoosa, Georgia.  He befriended Columbus, Ohio carver Elijah Pierce, who took him on as his apprentice, and it was from Pierce that he learned his craft.  An evangelical preacher, Almon's work centered on religious and moral themes.
