TAKASHI IWASAKI was born in Japan in 1982, earned an associate of arts at Kansai Gaidai College, Hirakata, Osaka, in 2002, and a BFA at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada, in 2006. He works in various media, and considers hand embroidering the most time-consuming and painstaking method of art making. He says that embroidery engages his thinking process differently from the other methods he uses, such as collage, drawing, painting, printmaking, and other graphic/web-design-related creations, which helps keep his thoughts and ideas “fluid and flexible”—words that also describe his colorful stitched pieces.
