Gruber, Don

Don Gruber is a paper cut artist from Clinton, Illinois. Of his work, Don says: “I have explored most media and sometimes do what traditionalists call “real” art (oil, watercolor, etc.). But I discovered paper cutting several years ago and have developed an obsession with the images I create. I work with paper using an exacto knife in reverse on the back of the sheet. I find these to be more expressive and emotionally soothing. “ “These images do not impose the restrictions of “rules.” I do them spontaneously and freely. They are my personal expression and view of the world as it presents itself to me. In them, I try to portray the humor and absurdities found among the chaos that defines modern life."
