In London, at the intersection of the Great Western Road, Harrow Road and Fernhead Road, there’s a park, or really a small paved over area for gathering. When I first started going to London in the late 80’s, it was a mildly dangerous spot, a good place to buy drugs, etc. But now there are food stands, a coffee shop, maybe a jeweler and vinyl record store. The one constant since those early days is the Jamaican culture. A few years back I was sitting there on a bench waiting for my friend David to show up, I couldn’t help but study these Rastas as they talked politics and jazz.
