Ever the iconoclast, Jon doesn't make prints the way everyone else does. His are digital prints which he mounts on 1" plywood, pressing them so that the wood texture shows through, touches them up around the edges and varnishes them. Here are a couple of pictures.
From the side you can see how he's painted the side of the wood black. They're meant to hang that way. The ones hanging a little farther away from the camera are paintings, by the way. It's Jon's intention that they look the same to a casual glance.
Here's the back side of the Cash print, showing title, number, signature and date.
You'll notice it's an edition of 15 - pretty small. That's the way he likes it.

**And don't miss Jon & Steve at the Continental Club, Saturday, September 5 at 10PM**
We'll be celebrating our 20th anniversary on Friday, September 4 with art & music by Jon Langford & Steve Wynn. Jon has been a part of our family since early '96 and is familiar to anyone who's followed us over the years.
Steve Wynn is new to us. Sort of. He's played many of our March Parties, either with his bands Steve Wynn & the Miracle 3 or Baseball Project, but this will be the first time we've shown his art. Actually, it will be his first art show anywhere. He's done some painting over the years and one of his paintings was used as the cover for the Dream Syndicate's album "Ghost Stories."
Steve will have a new album, available only from him, titled "solo! electric!". The front cover is a hand drawn self-portrait of sorts but the inside panel of the digipack is left intentionally blank so that he can draw a new Instant Alternate Cover. He'll be drawing instant album covers for anyone who buys the cd. There will also be some available for purchase online.
Steve and Jon will each have paintings in the show and will perform a few songs as well.

WILL JOHNSON
Since 2008 Johnson has produced a number of paintings, mostly centering on the subject of baseball and its history, which have been exhibited in group and solo art shows. An avid baseball fan as a child, he roots for the St. Louis Cardinals.
Johnson said that he began creating baseball paintings in 2007 or 2008, wanting to pay tribute to some of his favorite players and stories — especially unheralded players — through folk art paintings. Friends commissioned some of the work, which led to art shows

Bloodshot Records is celebrating their 20th anniversary with a calendar featuring photos taken at their infamous Yard Dog Bloodshot Parties, which we throw every March, during SXSW. Beginning in 1996 with the Waco Brothers & Old 97s, the calendar has fantastic photos of all kinds of great musicians, including Justin Townes Earle, Split Lip Rayfield, Sally Timms and more more more. In addition, there's all sorts of whimsical and historical dates, listings of all our lineups over the years and other tidbits to catch your wandering gaze while you are killing time in whatever office, cubicle or cell you may find yourself in.

Seventeen years ago, on September 7, 1995, we opened our doors. We had a tiny collection of folk art we'd gathered from around the South. At the end of that first day we gathered in the gallery with a few good friends for a celebratory beer. A big storm blew in and all hell broke loose. The windows upstairs blew out and rainwater began running down our walls. A tree across the street was struck by lightning and exploded. One of its branches landed next to a friend's car, damming the water in the gutter and flooding his car. The giant pink bunny that sat atop our neighbor's sign blew off and rolled down the street. Always good to start off with a bang, right?

Remember cassette tapes? Remember laboriously assembling a collection of all of your favorite songs onto a tape? Remember what it looked like when the tape broke - either because it wore out or because your player was dirty or just malfunctioning? Well, Camp Bosworth remembers, and he's immortalized it in carved wood and metal awesomeness.

"The Sweet Spot," is a weekly feature in the Arts section of the Friday New York Times online, wherein David Carr & A.O. Scott discuss matters of culture. In today's installment, Carr is wearing his Yard Dog tee shirt. He can also be seen wearing the shirt in the movie "Page One." The man has great taste, doesn't he?
