Etta's Lounge

Fabric collage with stitching, on canvas, mounted on 1/4" board. The canvas is attached to the board with velcro so that it could easily be removed if you want a more traditional framing.  39 5/8” x 31 5/8”

"Etta's Lounge in Houston was a frequent haunt for me and friends in Houston in the early 90s. It was a magical place, and some of the greatest blues artists of Texas and beyond would play there. I had fun with this piece trying to hint at the magic that happened behind those glowing windows. Of note: the car is depicted in Tolex fabric; the gold of the body is the grill cloth from a vintage organ and the tooled "leather" is a scrap from NC guitar amp builder Carr."
