Rachel Paxton

 

Massachusetts artist Rachel Paxton creates western-themed, mid-century modern-inspired neon sign paintings. These paintings of vintage neon signs are a pastiche of several different historic signs. Some still survive and some don’t exist anymore or are partially dilapidated and abandoned. Rachel redesigns and hyper-idealizes the signs to become new docu-fiction signs, which stand in for our collective, romanticized, and often incomplete memories.
