Rita Koos (1977, Budapest, Hungary) immigrated to Canada in 1988, eventually landing in Toronto, ON in 1990. “As a child, I was exposed to so much music, film, art, and theatre. My parents seemed consumed by culture and aesthetics. We traveled and moved around a lot.” Koos and Griffin met and became a couple in 2001 in Toronto.
Koos is a self-taught artist, who began painting in 2014 following the birth of her second child with Griffin. “I was painting on nap time.” Her first solo exhibit “Choir Girls” in 2016, Toronto was followed by “ VOX” in 2017 at Katharine Mulherin Gallery in Toronto, followed by “ SEED” in 2018 and “MADARAK” in 2021 at The Lyceum Gallery in Toronto.
