Jad Fair is an Austin artist & musician, best known as the co-founder, along with his brother David, of the lo-fi, experimental rock band Half Japanese. His Bandcamp page states he's released over 180 albums – with Half Japanese, as a solo act, and collaborations with Daniel Johnston, Yo La Tengo, Teenage Fanclub, and more. He's also a tireless visual artist, creating fun, whimsical paper cuttings, paintings, and drawings.
Yard Dog first showed Jad's paper cutting art in 2001, and we've put on quite a number of shows of his work over the years. This time around we’ll be showing 36 new paper cuttings. He and his band will also perform a set of music at the opening.
Jad will be moving away from Austin soon and this is his final show in Austin before he leaves.
