Julie Paschkis grew up in Philadelphia and has lived in Seattle since 1982. You can see her love of pattern and folk art in her work – paintings, papercuts, textiles and book illustrations. All of her work tells stories. The many children’s books she has illustrated include folk tales, poetry and biography. She illustrated Glass Slipper, Gold Sandal by Paul Fleischman (a 2007 New York Times Notable Book), Yellow Elephant by Julie Larios (a 2005 Horn Book Honor Book) and Night Garden by Janet Wong (a 2000 NY Times Best Illustrated Book),as well as many other books.
