Whistlin Dixie

“Whistlin Dixie”

Made long before Donald Trump was a serious presidential candidate, when I look at this painting now, it is a precursor to the locals sporting their MAGA hats. Based on a farm near where I used to live in Sugar Valley, Pennsylvania, the narrative came about slowly. It’s another example of man vs. nature, and who is really in charge. What I remember the most about painting this was the wet slushy road mingled with the crisp winter air laden with the musky smell of manure.

Oil on birch panel. 15" x 19 3⁄4”
